SCOPE AND OBJECTIVES

Service-oriented Computing and Internet Technologies have made a huge impact both on the software industry and on the research community. Today, these technologies are applied to build large-scale software landscapes as well as to provide single software services to end users.

Still, the work on the (efficient) usage of distributed computational resources using Service-oriented Computing and Internet Technologies is ongoing. Different major trends have appeared in the area in recent years: The need for agile and flexible IT systems has led to the rise of Cloud Computing as the dominating paradigm for provisioning computational resources in a scalable, on-demand fashion. In fact, Service-oriented Computing has gained additional momentum by the advent of Cloud Computing, which provides both private persons and large companies with the means to lease computational resources in a utility-like manner. As another major trend, the Internet of Things (IoT) has recently gained tremendous attention, with Service-oriented Computing as the underlying paradigm for the realization of the IoT. Also, new topics like microservices and fog computing appear but have not reached the mainstream yet. Last but not least, Service-oriented Computing is one of the key enablers for Smart Systems like Smart Grids, Smart Factories (“Industry 4.0”) and Smart Cities.

This special session aims to bring together related research works in the realm of Service-oriented Computing and Internet Technologies, including Cloud and IoT technologies and application areas for Service-oriented Computing and Internet Technologies. We aim at a program providing the audience with the many facets of Service-oriented Computing and Internet Technologies, including cross-cutting concerns and interdisciplinary considerations. Both basic research as well as applications of Service-oriented Computing and Internet Technologies will be regarded.

The Ser-Co Session topics include (but are not limited to) the following:
  • Foundation of Services Computing
  • Service-oriented Architectures (SOA)
  • Service-oriented Computing for Smart Systems
  • Service Lifecycle Support
  • Service-oriented Business Models
  • Web Services
  • Microservice-based Systems
  • Cloud Computing and System Virtualization
  • Elastic Computing
  • Software Engineering for Service- and Web-Based Systems
  • Internet of Things Technologies
  • Collaboration Technologies and Services
  • Message-oriented Middleware
  • Business Process Integration
  • Performance Management for Service- and Web-Based Systems
  • Service Operations and Management
  • Service Security, Privacy and Trust
  • Utility Computing and Models
  • Standards and Specifications of Services
  • Use cases for Service-oriented Computing and Internet Technologies

PAPER SUBMISSIONS
You are invited to submit original and unpublished research works on above and other topics related to High Performance Services Computing and Internet Technologies.  Submitted papers must not have been published or simultaneously submitted elsewhere.
Submitted papers must not have been published or simultaneously submitted elsewhere.  For Regular papers, please submit a PDF copy of your full manuscript, not to exceed 8 double-column formatted pages per template, and include up to 6 keywords and an abstract of no more than 400 words. Additional pages will be charged additional fee. Submission should include a cover page with authors' names, affiliation addresses, fax numbers, phone numbers, and all authors email addresses. Please, indicate clearly the corresponding author(s) although all authors are equally responsible for the manuscript. Short papers (up to 4 pages), poster papers and posters (please refer to  http://hpcs2016.cisedu.info/1-call-for-papers/call-for-posters for posters submission details) will also be considered. Please specify the type of submission you have.  Please include page numbers on all preliminary submissions to make it easier for reviewers to provide helpful comments.

Submit a PDF copy of your full manuscript to the special session paper submission site at http://128.130.172.222/conftool/.  Acknowledgement will be sent within 48 hours of submission.

Only PDF files will be accepted, uploaded to the submission link above.  Each paper will receive a minimum of three reviews.  Papers will be selected based on their originality, relevance, significance, technical clarity and presentation, and references.  Submission implies the willingness of at least one of the authors to register and present the paper, if accepted.  At least one of the authors of each accepted paper will have to register and attend the HPCS 2016 conference to present the paper at the special session.

Proceedings
Accepted papers will be published in the Conference proceedings. Instructions for final manuscript format and requirements will be posted on the HPCS 2016 Conference web site. It is our intent to have the proceedings formally published in hard and soft copies and be available at the time of the conference. The proceedings is projected to be included in the IEEE Digital Library and indexed in all major indexing services accordingly.

SPECIAL ISSUE
Plans are underway to have the best accepted papers be selected for possible publication in a journal special issue(s). Detailed information will soon be announced, and will be made available on the conference website.

If you have any questions about paper submission or the special session, please contact the Special Session organizers.
